2-color knit acrylic wool, approx. 195x25cm
Created and crafted in Germany
Inspired by the unmistakable energy of the Woods Art Institute, the textile work "1006" combines numerous sketchy impressions of the arboretum and sculpture garden into a seemingly inextricable web. What at first glance appears to be an abstract, random chaos or a turbulent interplay of black and white unfolds upon closer inspection into a multi-layered hidden object: a web of countless individual parts, elements, and symbols hidden within the WAI, waiting to be discovered.
The two-tone jacquard knit with closed edges shows the motif inverted on the reverse, changing the perception of the artwork depending on the viewing direction, creating new meanings and effects. The title also refers to this reflection of the contemporary and the timeless, the visible and the invisible.
