NYMPHAEA WHITE EDITION for Woods Art Institute, 2020
With delicate lines, layers of color, and forms, Magda Krawcewicz lightly and sensually transports us into archetypal mystical worlds of imagination. All her works, both paintings and sculptures, seem to be sustained by something fluid, enabling transitions and leaving figuration suspended. The artist draws on ancient symbols, thereby addressing the subconscious and collective memory. In the glazed layers, the figures merge and simultaneously disappear. It is the enigmatic nature of the world that has led people since time immemorial to try to explain it in myths. Magda Krawcewicz finds images full of delicate but also disturbing poetry.
