Thomas Judisch - Little P. | Sandstone

Little P. (Sandstone) draws attention to the seemingly ordinary objects of everyday life, transforming them into a sculpture that is both simple and poetic. A wooden fork is inserted into a piece of sandstone found in the Saxon Switzerland region of Germany – an unexpected combination of two everyday elements that Thomas Judisch condenses into an autonomous work of art.

Little P. was conceived in the context of the sculpture Poseidon, which forms part of the sculpture park at the Woods Art Institute. Its defining motif – a steel trident embedded in a boulder – is here translated into the scale of everyday life.

Each sandstone used is a unique found object, with its own distinctive shape, colour and texture.
